After many years of wearing many hats – editor, marketing assistant, stay-at-home mom/freelance graphic designer and 20 year PTA volunteer, I felt I wasn’t busy enough and wanted to try something new! My friend and Girl Scout co-leader, who was a real estate agent, suggested that my skills and abilities were well suited for real estate. As I considered the possibility, my family began our search for a new home. I watched my friend as she guided us through the sometimes harrowing process of signing hand-cramping purchase offer pages, late night phone calls to tell us our offers were rejected in a very hot market, and the nightmare known as the multiple offer battle to the death. And I thought – that looks like fun! When the closing day finally came, our abundant joy and her evident relief, our overwhelming gratitude and her obvious pride, sold me (pun intended) on the idea of working with buyers and sellers.
Since 2008, I’ve had the opportunity to wear even more hats: teacher – guiding people through the rollercoaster ride that is home buying and selling; emotional adviser – calming fears, easing tensions, gently removing the “personal” from the “business”; researcher – keeping up with the local market to determine what’s hot, what’s not, what’s comparable and what’s just crazy. Add to this various roles as marketer, personal chauffeur and tour guide, negotiator, cheerleader, perpetual student, and perhaps a few more. I’m never bored with my work and I’m always excited to see what each new day has in store. On a personal note, I listen more than I talk, and eat pizza more than I should. I love my family, my community, animals, volunteering, many genres of music, rom-coms, and military surprise homecoming videos.
